How to play Hollow Lantern without ruining it

June 10, 2026 · Marta Kowalska

Hollow Lantern is short and it's tempting to rush it, but that's the wrong way to play. The whole thing works because of atmosphere and slow discovery.

My one piece of advice: read everything. The notes scattered around the town aren't optional flavour — they're the story, and skipping them turns the ending into a shrug. Tap the objects that glow faintly; most of them say something.

The puzzles are gentle, so resist the urge to look anything up. If you're stuck, walk somewhere you haven't lit yet. The answer is almost always a lamp you missed.

Play it with sound on, ideally with headphones, somewhere quiet. It's less a puzzle game than a mood, and it deserves your full attention for its four short hours.
